Vocal Attunement
This is a class for meeting the vulnerability of vocality with compassionate practice and deep reverence for the beauty of embodied sound. We will move through a set of exercises designed to cultivate strength, agility, and confidence in pitch recognition, resonance, and tone. Moving from a philosophy of sound as divine source, we will hone our bodies as sacred, living instruments, and attune to the beauty and power of the vibrational world.
Instructor: Alexander Karvelas, PhD, holds a doctorate in ethnomusicology, specializing in Hindustani Classical Music and modal traditions of the Middle East and Central Asia. He also completed his certificate in Sound, Voice, Music and the Healing Arts from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2016. Alexander has been honing his practice for over fifteen years, and offers his teachings as part of a broader praxis of devotional research of song, bringing together hearts and minds to study and celebrate the divine potential of sonic alchemy.
